After the catastrophic derailment of the Russian Royal Train on October 17, 1888, where 21 people died, a new Imperial Train was started for the exclusive transport of the Imperial Court of the Russian tsars. The new imperial train, was built using wagons of the previous train between 1894 and 1896, ending in time for the coronation of Tsar Nicholas II in 1896, which would be the last Tsar and would end the era of Czarist Russia.
