Christie’s auctioned on Wednesday for 450.3 million dollars a painting painted by Leonardo da Vinci five centuries ago, ‘Salvator Mundi’, the only work of the Italian artist that remains in private hands. The painting, which became part of the collection of Charles I of England (1600-1649), had ended up in the hands of a Russian billionaire, who bought it in 2013 for 127.5 million dollars.
